Rita Courtwright

Board Treasurer

Rita Courtwright, MA, is an enrolled member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma and a descendant of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe (Pipa Aha Macav). Her journey began as a Public Information Officer who worked on nurturing the health and well-being of Native citizens throughout Northeastern Oklahoma. She has continued her work with Tribes for over 20 years. She also works to help boost the confidence and self-esteem of Native American students through higher education, where she has taught Speech Communications classes for almost two decades.

In her current role as the Deputy Project Manager of Communications for BIE BHWP, Rita’s focus is communicating health and wellness services for Bureau-operated schools, Tribally controlled schools, post-secondary institutions, and Tribal colleges and universities.
With a Master of Arts in Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations, she is excited to contribute her expertise and Tribal experience to fulfill the mission of the United American Indian Initiative. Her dedication to clear communication, message creation, and conveying truth is paramount as she strives to make a lasting impact on the well-being of Natives for future generations.
