United American Indian Involvement (UAII) promotes the physical, behavioral, and spiritual well-being of American Indian and Alaskan Native communities in the urban Los Angeles area while preserving our cultures and traditions.
We provide healthcare that is culturally sensitive and inclusive of all patients, as well as community programs developed by and for our Native and Indigenous communities.
Health Services
We provide access to culturally sensitive healthcare, clinical services, case management, and health education that is culturally sensitive and open to all.
Community Services
We offer evidence-based and culturally appropriate programs for substance use, workforce development, elder services, and much more for our Native and Indigenous community.
Youth Programs
Since our founding, we’ve delivered programs that promote the growth and well-being of our youth while passing on our cultural knowledge and tribal values.

50 Years of Service and Counting
UAII was established in 1974 on the streets of Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles by two empowered Native women.
Over the past five decades, we’ve become the largest nonprofit provider of health and human services for American Indians and Alaskan Natives in L.A., the largest urban center in the country. Today, we provide healthcare services for the community.
Our dedicated staff works hard to offer culturally sensitive services that help our communities grow stronger every day.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. A time to raise awareness, show support, and stand with the children and families impacted by childhood cancer.
Caring for your child’s health also means making space for routine care. 💛 UAII Primary Care welcomes pediatric patients for annual checkups, helping families stay on top of their child’s health, growth, development, and overall well-being.

On September 11, we honor the lives lost, the families who continue to carry their memory, and the countless people who stepped forward in the days and years that followed.
We also remember a story connected to Indian Country. Mohawk ironworkers helped shape New York City’s skyline, including the World Trade Center. After the attacks, Mohawk ironworkers returned to Ground Zero, bringing their skills, strength, and care to the recovery efforts. Their story is one of legacy, service, resilience, and community.
Today, UAII remembers all those impacted by September 11 and honors our Indigenous relatives whose contributions are woven into this history.
On Hope for Life Day, we’re sending love to those fighting battles we can’t see, carrying the memory of someone they’ve lost, and choosing to stay another day. 🧡

Olivia Rodrigo recently announced a $10 million commitment supporting organizations focused on the health and futures of women and girls around the world. Among the recipients is the Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, which received $2 million to support its work with Indigenous communities.
Beyond the headline, this is a reminder of why investment in Indigenous health matters. More resources, more visibility and more support can help strengthen the health and wellbeing of Native communities for generations to come.
