Language is more than communication. It carries identity, history, teachings, and the stories of our ancestors.
This month, we`re highlighting the Mvskoke language of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. While the language is endangered, ongoing revitalization efforts are helping preserve and strengthen it for future generations through immersion programs, community classes, digital learning tools, and youth education initiatives.
Every word spoken helps keep culture alive. Every lesson learned helps ensure Indigenous knowledge continues to thrive.

🚨 BOYLE HEIGHTS FIRE RESPONSE 🚨
UAII is actively supporting community members affected by the Boyle Heights Fire.
Our team is providing food assistance, N95 masks, resource navigation, and community outreach support to those impacted. UAII outreach vans are also deploying supplies to areas where help is needed most.

In observance of Juneteenth, UAII will be closed on Friday, June 19. We wish everyone a safe and reflective Juneteenth.
Last week we were honored to welcome Ms. Lee Allen, M.A., Management and Program Analyst with the Administration for Native Americans (ANA), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), for an outcomes visit with the UAII Workforce Program.
During her visit, we shared the impact of the work supported through the ANA Social and Economic Development Strategies (SEDS) grant initiative. Through this funding, UAII continues to strengthen workforce development opportunities, support economic growth, and help Native community members build pathways toward long-term success.
The ANA SEDS program empowers Native communities to create solutions that reflect their unique needs, cultures, and goals.
We are grateful for the opportunity to showcase the progress being made and the positive impact these programs have on the individuals and families we serve.

UAII is seeking submissions for our Beading Video Contest, celebrating the creativity, artistry, and stories woven into Indigenous beadwork traditions.
Six selected artists will each receive a $350 award and have their work featured in a special art exhibition highlighting the beauty and significance of our community’s beadwork.
📹 Submission Guidelines:
• Video length: 9-10 minutes
• Visual only (no sound)
• Include your beading process
• Earrings only
• Share the story or meaning behind the featured earrings or beadwork piece
