UAII News & Announcements

50 Years of Service and Counting

UAII was established in 1974 on the streets of Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles by two empowered Native women.

Over the past five decades, we’ve become the largest nonprofit provider of health and human services for American Indians and Alaskan Natives in L.A., the largest urban center in the country. Today, we provide healthcare services for the community.

Our dedicated staff works hard to offer culturally sensitive services that help our communities grow stronger every day.

We Know Our Native Community

Over more than five decades, we’ve built an enduring trust with the American Indian and Alaskan Native community in L.A.

Our intimate knowledge of our community’s needs is integral to how we build program support, assessment, and growth. We’ve helped our community overcome historical trauma and build resilience through culturally sensitive services and knowledgeable staff.

We’re focused on the holistic treatment of our community’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
