California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program

BY UAII

California recently announced a $500 million Small Business Covid-19 Relief Grant program for eligible small business owners and nonprofits who have been impacted by COVID-19 and the health and safety restrictions. Grants up to $25,000 will be given to eligible small businesses and nonprofits to help cover expenses during the pandemic.

The new website, www.CAReliefGrant.com, is now live! Visit to review your eligibility, prepare your business documents and get ready to apply. Applications for Round 1 will open on Wednesday, December 30th, 2020, and close end of day on Friday, January 8th. Round 2 will be announced in the near future.

The program is administered by the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA) and disbursed through Lendistry, a Community Development Financial Institution serving as the Intermediary. Small businesses may apply directly through the website or with one of the partners.

Our friends at the IDRS Acorn Project are working with the California Association of Microenterprise Opportunity (CAMEO) to get the word out to Indian Country and assist people who need help to apply for the grant. IDRS has set up a webpage where you can request assistance, learn about the program, and register for upcoming informational webinars (webinars are happening daily). The webpage can be found at www.nativebiz.org/calcovid
