Board Secretary

Laura Escobar (Muscogee Nation) born and raised in Los Angeles County a direct descendant to the Trail of Tears, American Indian Relocation Act as well as California Migrant Worker Survivors. The memories of strong Native Community connections that provided support to Native Families and those who came to California by caravan have caused me to be proud to join UAII as Board Secretary. Working in healthcare for over 40 years with a focus on clerical with clinical support as well as being a union steward and member organizer. Experience partnering with multiple levels of leadership, management and committees for various organizations. An active community member with a passion for helping others succeed.During the pandemic utilizing UAII services with opportunities that became available to return to school through Workforce Development. Pivoted by expanding online skills through many zoom meetings and trainings, talking circles, workshops as well as volunteering for the native community.
