On September 3rd, 2021, United American Indian Involvement, Inc. (UAII), which for the last 47 years has provided human and health services for American Indian/Alaskan Native families in the County of Los Angeles and Orange County, announced that it has been selected to receive a $1 million per year grant for the next three (3) years from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Through this funding, United American Indian Involvement, Inc. will train and deploy community health workers through its new UAII Community Health Worker Outreach Initiative. The goal of the UAII CHW Outreach Initiative is to address disparities in access for American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/ANs) to COVID-19 response services, including vaccinations, testing, contact tracing, and PPE, as well as promote health literacy for preventive measures and early detection of disease. UAII Community Health Workers will also serve as a member of our integrated health team connecting the Indigenous with UAII health and human services and linkages to partner organization services.

The program is slated to begin in December 2021, and we are already accepting applications for the Community Health Worker position.
