We are excited to announce that the UAII Strengthening All Generations through traditional Experience (S.A.G.E.). The project has restarted the Walking Club at Echo Park Lake! With two sessions per month on the first and third Thursdays from 4:30 pm-5:30 pm, participants now have the unique opportunity to walk with their family, friends, and community.
We are providing pedometers for all participants and encouraging them to first obtain a physical examination through their medical provider or through the Clinic at UAII. Those who complete the quick “in-body” exam at UAII will be entered into a raffle for a variety of health and wellness-based prizes!
We are logging the number of steps we take with the goal of increasing our overall level of physical activity, through friendly competition with others in the group. Our goal is to connect our Native families across the generations and to create a community of support.
In partnership with the Health Project, Natalie Oseguera (AIHP Health Educator) and Brandon Silva (SAGE Project Coordinator) have created a program with the goal of promoting an active lifestyle by utilizing the healthy practices of our ancestors by engaging in daily physical activity.
