We’re strengthening Native families by preserving our traditions, values, and culture to support their unique needs.
Our goal is to increase the percentage of Native American children raised in healthy family environments by ensuring culturally appropriate family preservation services and making active efforts to protect our children through the 1978 Indian Child Welfare Act.
Seeking the help your family needs can be challenging and stressful. We’re committed to helping you every step of the way.
Our compassionate Family Advocates work closely with your family to help you to complete your Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) case plan and find the help you need.

The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) of 1978 is a United States federal law that governs jurisdiction over the removal of American Indian children from their families in custody, foster care and adoption cases.
The goal of our program is to increase ICWA compliance. We provided support through a Court Monitor who attends court hearings to observe and monitor for violations of the ICWA law.
Court monitors also provide training to judges, attorneys, and social workers on the law. We also distribute an ICWA Court Monitor Newsletter to state and national stakeholders.
The goal of the UAII Tribal Liaison Program is to increase tribal participation and promote family preservation, cultural connections, and reunification. We do this through long-standing relationships with tribes throughout the United States.
The Tribal Liaison establishes partnerships with out-of-state tribes and acts on behalf of these tribes in court with their authorization. Tribal Liaisons gather information from all court parties and share it with the tribe so it can make informed recommendations.
