[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Our WIND “High School Graduation Drive-by Celebration” recognized three high school seniors for their hard work, honoring their dedication, leadership, and commitment to both academics and the UAII community. These three graduates are active participants in WIND, and they are both positive role models to their younger peers.
Cheyenne Samayoa (Pictured Above)
Cheyenne Samayoa is the granddaughter of Sharon and David Rambeau, former CEO of UAII. Her Nations are Delaware and Kiowa. Cheyenne was involved in Marching Band for a total of seven years. In high school, she committed to two years in Symphonic Band and two years in Concert Band, while accomplishing 314 hours of Community Service. She graduated from Downey High School and received a scholarship through the Mary Stauffer Foundation, which she will use to continue her education at Rio Hondo Community College in Whittier.
Peter Sanchez
Peter Sanchez is from the Tongva, Kumeyaay, and Apache Nations. He graduated from Magnolia High School in Anaheim and will continue his education at Santa Ana College. He was accepted into Albertus Magnus College with a scholarship. However, he decided to attend Santa Ana College until baseball opens up again. Peter actively participated in extracurricular activities throughout his high school career, including baseball and archery. Additionally, he completed four Los Angeles marathons, was captain of his school baseball team, and obtained a drone flight certification. He has been involved with UAII since 2015, and recently became a youth counselor for the Robert Sundance Summer Camp. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, doing cultural activities, and drawing.
Nizhonii Begay
Nizhonii Begay is from the Navajo, Pima, and Lakota Sioux Nations. She graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Los Angeles and will continue her education at Los Angeles City College to pursue a career in nursing. Nizhonii has been involved in the Educational Foundation program, a two-year course to become a Teacher’s Assistant through the Los Angeles Unified School District. While in the program, she worked in various elementary schools as an English tutor and was later assigned to help 6th-grade students with their math homework. She began participating in youth programming at UAII when she was six or seven years old, later becoming a youth counselor for the Robert Sundance Summer Camp. She has been active in WIND for five years. In her spare time, Nizhonii enjoys drawing, listening to music, and spending time with her friends and family. Once she graduates from college, she hopes to give back to her community and create a good life for herself and her future family.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
