Nurturing Tradition, Growing our Future

The UAII Childcare Center will provide a safe, loving, and culturally grounded environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

Opening in Palmdale in 2026, our center will serve children ages 18 months to 10 years, offering childcare, early learning, school-age programs, and cultural enrichment rooted in Native identity.

Our Commitment

Philosophy
At UAII, we believe every child is unique and deserving of care that honors their whole self physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Our approach centers on high-quality learning experiences, nurturing relationships, and culturally grounded activities that help children build identity, confidence, and community.

Mission
We support the physical, emotional, and cultural well-being of American Indian, Alaska Native, Indigenous, and all children we serve. We aim to create a warm, culturally rich environment where children feel safe, valued, and connected to their heritage while growing confidently in all areas of development.

Our Programs

UAII Childcare Center will provide a full range of childcare and early learning programs designed to support the whole child, socially, emotionally, physically, cognitively, and culturally.

  • Early Education Program (18 months – 4 years)
Brings together members from different tribes to ensure our childcare curriculum reflects Native culture, values, and perspectives. Their guidance helps create culturally responsive learning experiences, strengthens children’s sense of identity and belonging, and ensures that our program honors the voices of the communities we serve.
  • Preschool & Creative Curriculum
A hands-on, research-based approach supporting the five developmental domains: social-emotional, language, physical, cognitive, and creative expression. Teachers meet children where they are, using observation and assessment to guide learning.
  • After-School Program (Ages 5–10)
Homework support, enrichment, and cultural activities for school-aged children
  • Full-Day School Break Programs
Engaging programs are available during winter break, spring break, and summer.
  • Early Intervention Program
Connects families to Early Intervention and health support services. Services include support for developmental delays, vision and hearing screenings, mobile medical visits, vaccinations, growth monitoring, and minor dental care. Children may also receive speech therapy, behavioral health support, and occupational therapy to strengthen communication, emotional well-being, and everyday skills.

Intergenerational Program

Our Intergenerational Program brings Elders and children together for meaningful cultural connections. Elders share stories, songs, and teachings while engaging children in arts and crafts and share mealtimes, helping to strengthen identity, respect, and community.

Culturally Responsive Teaching Program

Culturally responsive teaching for Native children honors their culture, identity, and community as central to learning. It includes Native stories, traditions, languages, and values in the classroom while engaging families and Elders in the learning process. This approach helps children feel seen, valued, and connected, supporting stronger confidence and academic success.
