Dr. Hilda Sandoval is the Executive Director of Health Services at United American Indian Involvement, Inc., where she will lead healthcare strategy, operations, and program development in support of holistic, culturally responsive care for Indigenous communities.
Dr. Sandoval holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. With over two decades of clinical and leadership experience, she has built and strengthened healthcare systems across Federally Qualified Health Centers and public health settings. Her work spans direct care, program oversight, leadership development, and organizational capacity building. She has also developed innovative media and research initiatives that advance social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Prior to joining UAII, Dr. Sandoval served as Director of Behavioral Health at JWCH Institute, where she oversaw a multi-million-dollar portfolio of county-funded programs addressing severe mental illness, substance use disorders, homelessness, and complex chronic conditions. She led multidisciplinary teams and advanced integrated care models that bridge behavioral health, primary care, and social services to improve access, quality, and health outcomes.
Dr. Sandoval is recognized for a leadership approach grounded in cultural humility, community engagement, and system accountability. She has elevated community voice through advisory leadership, including serving as chair of a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic Community Advisory Board, where she championed the inclusion of individuals with lived experience in organizational strategy and quality improvement.
She has led nationally recognized bilingual public health campaigns that reduce health disparities affecting the Latine, African American and LGBTQ+ communities, particularly in HIV prevention, behavioral health, and treatment accessibility. These efforts have reached millions, helping to reduce stigma and increase engagement in testing, prevention, and treatment services.
Dr. Sandoval approaches this role at UAII with a commitment to partnership, respect, and accountability to the communities served. She is dedicated to supporting community-driven healthcare systems that honor Indigenous knowledge, build trust, and promote long-term wellness.
