BY UAII

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Did you know that UAII 7 Generations is also in Palmdale?

Our Palmdale satellite office (located at 1529 E. Palmdale Blvd., Suite 208, Palmdale, CA 93550) provides Services to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) families in the Antelope Valley area and surrounding areas. In January, we launched a PSA to spread the word to the Antelope Valley community about our services. The PSA included billboards that were strategically placed throughout Palmdale and Lancaster. Throughout the pandemic, the Palmdale team has continued to make sure the needs of our High Desert community are being met.

Antelope Valley families that participate in our Prevention and Aftercare program have been able to attend virtual Zoom workshops and make new cultural and social connections throughout the entire county. If you know any AI/AN families in the Antelope Valley area that are in need of- or are interested in our services, please have them visit our website at https://uaii.org/behavioral-mental-health/ and complete our Request for Services form or email us at 7generations@uaii.org.

Women’s Empowerment

Seven Generations and the Prevention and After Care team are hosting a six-week Women’s Empowerment Series. The goal of this series is to give strength and highlight the resiliency of Native/Indigenous women. It enables a greater degree of self-confidence and a sense of independence among women in our community. This important workshop offers women an understanding of their rights and responsibilities for themselves and others.

Each week touches on the following discussion topics: Historical Trauma, Cultural Identity, Resiliency, Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes and I am ME. The women also explore traditional activities such as necklace-making and creating a Lakota Fire Tonic Cider. This series helps explore and find strength in Native women to have a healthy start to their healing process and become resilient with the help and guidance through our staff and the support of our native community. If you are interested or if you know someone who may be interested in this six-week series please send your RSVP to Sevengsrsvp@uaii.org. All of our services are being provided virtually during the pandemic. Please RSVP to any of our workshops at Sevengsrsvp@uaii.org or complete our referral form for therapy services.

Seven Generations would like to welcome 5 new staff: Katherine Jimenez, Care Coordinator, Guillermo Gonzalez Lopez, Therapist, Gi Yun, Therapist, Marie Bialza, Therapist and Joseph Morales, Family Preservation, IHOC. We also want to congratulate 3 staff who received their clinical licenses: Stephanie Glaze, Psy.D., Licensed Psychologist, Tiffany Ortiz, Psy.D., Licensed Psychologist, and Bernadette Gurney, LMFT, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
