BGC Programs

Our programming is organized around four pillars of wellness: Culture, Health & Wellness, Personal Growth, and Community Involvement. Every program is culturally grounded and designed to empower Native youth.

Personal Growth

Our Personal Growth programs build leadership, career readiness, and life skills in Native youth. From Youth Council leadership to college and career exploration, these programs prepare young people to succeed on their own terms.

Youth Leadership Development
Ages 5–18

The American Indian Clubhouse Youth Council is our Youth Leadership Development program. We are also a United Native Indian Tribal Youth (UNITY) Chapter and a Chartered Boys and Girls Club of America Keystone Club.

Four Directions Career Pathways
Ages 16–25

This College and Career Exploration Program is open to Transitional Age Youth throughout Los Angeles County. Our culturally-adapted program seeks to explore college degrees and careers that promote our tribal values of sustainability and protection of our natural resources.

Life Skills Workshops
All Ages

Throughout the year, we offer workshops to teach basic life skills — like communication, creating a vision for your future, and promoting academic success.

Community Involvement

Community Connection

Through our Youth Council, our members are able to participate in community service projects throughout the year.

Events range from beach cleanups to volunteering for community events like UAII’s annual Halloween and Christmas Parties. Our members enjoy making a difference in their community and these opportunities show how we are all connected.

Building Agents for Change

A central goal that runs through our programming is to develop strong, educated young leaders for our community. We support our youth in learning about various health, public health, and prevention issues. Then we give them the opportunity to share their knowledge so they can be peer advisors on those topics in their schools, in their communities, and with their friends.

Working with Tribal Groups

Our members have the opportunity to connect with other tribal groups across Southern California, building inter-tribal relationships and learning from diverse Native communities.

  • Community service projects year-round
  • Beach cleanups and event volunteering
  • Youth Council coordination
  • Peer advisor training and leadership development
  • Inter-tribal collaboration

Health & Wellness

“Building Future Healthy Generations”

As a department within United American Indian Involvement, we have always had an emphasis on health and wellness. We host nutrition and health workshops throughout the year, promote careers in the medical and dental field, and provide programs that aim to address issues like substance abuse, mental health, and healthy relationships.

Working with the other departments of UAII, there are several events throughout the year that enable us to celebrate and improve the health of our community.
