United American Indian Involvement Announces Jim Alexander as Chief Executive Officer
LOS ANGELES, Calif., November 19, 2024 – United American Indian Involvement (UAII) is excited to announce that Jim Alexander has joined the organization as Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective November 19, 2024. Jim, a proud member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, has been a part of UAII’s journey from the Board of Directors to leading our Health Care Advisory Board as Chair. His unwavering commitment to UAII’s mission, which has been a guiding light, is an inspiration to us all. We are confident that he will continue to uphold and advance our goals, instilling a sense of confidence in our staff, community members, and partners.
Mr. Alexander brings a wealth of experience in healthcare operations and processes, a significant asset that will further enhance UAII’s commitment to providing quality physical and behavioral health, education, and social support services. His extensive background ensures that UAII will continue to deliver services that promote healthy lifestyles and individual responsibility, providing a sense of security to our community members.
His executive experience includes serving as Vice President for two healthcare organizations and as State of Michigan State Operations Manager, where he had complete oversight of administration and operational management of a $35 million budget and daily operations of a maximum- and minimum-security prison with over 400 personnel and a 1200 prisoner population.
Mr. Alexander was Vice President of Complex Care Operations at Equality Health, where he developed care delivery programs and integrated clinical and non-clinical staff. He also managed operations, designed innovative processes, and implemented growth-promoting policies for diverse patient populations. Previously, as the Vice President of Operations at Work Health Solutions, he oversaw contracts with California state agencies and managed a network of healthcare personnel.
In addition to over 26 years of experience in operational oversight and policy development, he also serves on the Advisory Board for Northstar EAP, contributing to its mission of delivering comprehensive employee assistance programs.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Master of Arts in Administrative Service from Northern Michigan University.
