The purpose of the United American Indian Involvement, Inc. (UAII) Healthy Roads (HR) program is to help American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) individuals and families develop a healthy lifestyle through empowerment and education that can help them prevent Type-2 diabetes. The HR program offers prevention education sessions derived from a science-based Lifestyle Balance cirriculum proven to prevent or delay the onset of Type-2 diabetes. Through participation in the program, individuals and families can adopt a healthy lifestyle, which is inclusive of a balance between nutrition and physical activity.

The Healthy Roads program also encourages AI/AN individuals and families to participate and utilize other services provided by UAII such as substance abuse treatment, workforce development, medical/dental services, mental health services, and youth services. In this way, AI/AN individuals and families can being their journey living an empowered way of life by making healthy decisions with the support of their community and UAII.
