Recognition for Service and Dedication to Community

During the month of November, our graphic designer Harold Freeland was recognized by the City and County of Los Angeles for his contributions of art and service to our community. Harold has spent many years working with Community service organizations like UAII. During his time, Mr. Freeland has worked with Native youth to learn new forms of art and expression. Harold’s work has been featured in gallery exhibits and has even been found in the archives of the Autry museum.

On Friday, November 2 Harold was welcomed to L.A. City Hall by Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell who thanked Harold for his dedication to the community. Harold received a plaque from the city and was able to share a few words about his experience coming to Los Angeles on relocation and working towards education and career as an American Indian in the City.

On Tuesday, November 20 Harold was invited to an LA County Board of Supervisor meeting by Supervisor Hilda Solis. The meeting included a special recognition during the meeting that discussed the accomplishments of Harold and others honored during the meeting. All of the Board of Supervisors then got up from their respective places around the meeting and made their way to take pictures, shake hands and give hugs, and meet with honorees like Harold and thank them for their long service to the American Indian community.

Way to go Harold!
